Mitt Romney

Big night for Huck.

Essentially a draw for Hillary and Obama.

Obama will win the most number of states and California’s outcome will be big.

If Obama only loses Hispanics by 11 points as he did in Arizona, I think he will win in California.

I will say this:

Obama’s mistake since SC has been defending himself against the race argument. He has done a great job in his stump battling against the change argument and the hope argument, but the Clinton’s have him talking on the stump about how it isn’t “black v. white.” No matter how he talks about it, if its about race, it will hurt him. He should never talk about race. He doesn’t need to.

His numbers among whites have improved greatly though which is a good sign of things to come.

I’m waiting on California, Missouri and New Mexico, as well as seeing if the numbers close in Mass., NJ and NY.

Just to be on the record…I like Huck and I hope he kills Romney in Georgia.

What to look for in the 8:00 states

1. If Obama wins 2 out of NJ, Alabama and Conn. it will be a very long night for Hillary.

2. Will Obama’s margin of victory in Illinois be greater than Hillary’s margin of victory in NY?

3. The winner of Missouri will have a feather to stick in their cap at the end of the night.

4. Did Kerry, Kennedy and Patrick pull it out for Obama in Mass? Or did the Mayor of Boston’s hard work driving his machine for Clinton earn him a promotion?

5. Females…especially in Missouri and Conn.

6. White males in Mass. (especially Boston) and Alabama.

7. Can Huck pull it out in Miss., Alabama and Tenn? If so, Romney will be forced to concede by Thursday. Absentee ballots in California might save him.

Great story! I love nothing more than seeing Huck stick it to Romney.

Well, folks, here we go!

Huck took WV.

He’ll probably get another state or two tonight.

But I will probably concentrate on the Dems tonight.

Things to look for in the 7 pm States.

Georgia:

White males- Will help as a predictor of what will happen with this demographic in Tenn., Alabama and Oklahoma.

Blacks- Will Obama’s margin hold up?

Also, tonight, look to see a few things overall:

1. Did Obama gain among men and close the gap on women? That “pantsuit” comment might be hurtful. We shall see.

2. What is the Hispanics for Clinton: Blacks for Obama ratio?

3. Can Obama close the gap with Clinton among 65+.

4. California, California, California…and Mass.

Well, Hillary’s townhall wasn’t used to attack Obama, just to make a carefully orchestrated, misleading presentation of Clinton’s record and the campaign that she has run up to this point. Although, to be fair, if I was going to spend millions of dollars to put on a live Television event the day before the primary, I probably wouldn’t want a ton of flexibility either.

I think tonight is going to be a bit of a letdown for the Obama supporters who were expecting a 20-point jump from polls to reality as in SC. I think Hillary will have a good day. I do have several predictions.

1. Obama will win Illinois by a wider margin than Hillary wins NY.

2. Obama will lose Missouri.

3. Obama will win every caucus state.

4. Clinton will win Alabama.

5. Obama will close the delegate gap.

6. Mass. will be within 5 points. as NJ will be within 8.

7. McCain will finish Romney tonight.

Watching his acceptance speech, I realized that Mitt is Richard Nixon. He is a former Governor of a liberal state, trying to reconcile that with his desire to win the nomination of a conservative party.

And as I was watching his speech, his campaign’s decision, much like Hillary’s, to take much of the message of Obama, is like Nixon’s effort in 1960 to be what he was not: The Future. Mitt Romney exudes establishment and politics as usual. Nixon tried, as he wrote in his memoir, to be a Republican that could inspire people, but in 1960, especially against JFK, that wasn’t going to happen.

Now I am sorry that I haven’t been able to blog lately, and I certainly have a lot to say, but for tonight I will have to cut it short..

I will say that the Clinton campaign’s tactics, starting in NH and reaching a peak (which I’m sure they will rise above before this is all over) with the game they played with Florida. This is exactly what needs to end: The game-playing. The say-anything, do-anything, ends justify the means approach to politics of the Clinton’s. We need to end the game-playing and get to the problem-solving.

I will probably liveblog the Dem debate.

I hope all of my readers are doing well.

Ok… So if Hillary was to get the Dem Nomination, a McCain/Huckabee Ticket would make perfect sense…and it would be , in my opinion, victorious.

However, if Obama gets the nomination, the qualities and attributes of a McCain/Huck ticket are not as needed. What would be needed is a running mate to further accentuate foreign policy issues. For that reason, and for others, and you may want to mark the date and time of this prediction:

McCain/Rice.

He will at least make the offer.

Mark my words.

I love you all and have fun watching Obama and McCain win tonight. Also, have fun watching Romney get beat by larger proportions than we thought he would. And, finally, enjoy the Huck getting in third, creaming Giuliani.

I almost got weepy. That was seriously one of the most touching, American things I have seen in this cycle so far. It was great to see all ten of them on the stage.

Romney got hammered. McCain had a good night and the candidates were so busy hammering Romney, McCain wasn’t hit too hard on taxes. Fred Thompson was great, he looked very thoughtful and had a lot of common sense. Huckabee was doing good, he wasn’t hit too hard and he did a lot of good work on Romney.

I think the big winners were McCain and Thompson. The huge loser was Romney.

The question on Obama is very interesting. I hope is staff and the Senator use this to their advantage to prop up Obama as the new frontrunner.

I think there were more compliments paid to Obama than detractions.

Obama will nail this out of the park in the debate.
